WELCOME TO AED AT UMICH!
At a national level, Alpha Epsilon Delta is a pre-professional honor society for undergraduate students who are preparing for careers in the healthcare field. The Michigan Epsilon chapter at the University of Michigan was established in 1998, making it the oldest pre-health fraternity on campus.
We strive to build a community that embraces diversity, camaraderie, and professionalism. Here at Michigan, we place a high value on education and service. However, we are more than just an honor society: here we are a family.
How do I get more information about AED at UMICH?
Prospective members are encouraged to attend all informational events at the start of the school year. We will have a booth at Festifall with current board members and general members to answer any questions. There are also 2 informational Mass Meetings (more details can be found on the Rush 2023 information page).

What are the pledge requirements?
Pledges have a number of different requirements during their pledge year, all focused on our core values: family, growth, and service. Please refer to our requirements page here.
I am a prospective pledge, who should I contact?
More details about Rush can be found on the Rush 2023 information page, including the Rush interest form and Rush Calendar. All prospective pledges should attend the informative meetings at the beginning of the school year.
What are the fees associated with joining AED?
There is no cost to apply to AED. Upon receiving a bid, you will receive more information regarding annual dues. We never want finances to deter students from rushing, and we are always willing to work with members who may need financial assistance.
Prospective Members/Pledges
Applicants who are accepted into the year’s pledge class are required to pay a $100 Pledge initiation fee.
Members
Members who have completed their pledge year are required to pay a $50 members fee.
Who can run for a board position?
The core executive board and chair positions are available to pledges on-route to be inducted (near completion of their pledge year) and existing members/board members of AED.
What opportunities will I be guaranteed in joining AED?
We strive to give our members the greatest amount of resources to excel in their academic and professional careers. Please refer to the Values tab for some of the opportunities and ways our members get involved in AED. Some examples are listed below.

I am a freshman, can I still join AED?
Freshmen are welcome to apply to AED. However, under the national AED rules freshmen cannot be official pledges so they have the title of Freshman Associates. This is an honorary position in the organization but associates are given the same opportunities as the regular pledge class. However, they must re-apply and re-rush the upcoming year.
